The Diehl family has completed a reservation for Friday and Saturday nights.  We will be there!

Okay, what more is needed for food on Saturday?  Do we need to bring bread or brownies or buns ... etc?

Corn might be good, and is still in season. Or possibly potatoes. We could bake them.

Hello All!!

We are so happy to see so many bus nuts (and friends) are coming to Moose Lake, we are looking forward to seeing everyone. We've been asked about the food, and this is what we've come up with so far:

Friday night: Since everyone will likely be arriving at different times, lets just say on your own, we'll have a fire going, so if you want to bring hot dogs or whatever to cook, go for it! Also, lets have a "potluck" snacks for around the campfire that night.

Saturday morning: Sue and I will plan on making and bringing five egg bakes, John has volunteered to cook waffles for everyone to go with them. If everyone else can bring breakfast foods to go with it, like juices, muffins, fruit, rolls, etc, that would be great.

Saturday lunch: on you own

Saturday Dinner: Craig volunteered to bring and cook three of his AWESOME beer butt chickens.  Someone has volunteered to bring baked beans, so the rest of us can fill in the rest,  if you have an idea what you'd like to bring maybe you can post a quick note so others will know what you're thinking.

Sunday morning: We thought we can have a group breakfast, everyone can bring something to share.

At this point, the head count is about 20 people, with the possibility about 5-10 more, who are still maybes.

I hope this helps in your planning, we are open to any suggestions/ideas you have!

We are really looking forward to this bus weekend! Can't wait to see you all! only 15 days now!!, but who's counting?!

John,

Are you bringing a gas grill?  I was thinking you had one there last year.

With that many people, we better plan on a couple more chickens.

I have a double chicken holder, but would need a grill. I could use my little bbq grill on the camp stove. They don't fit in there very well, but I have done them in there in the past. I might have a small portable gas grill in the shed, too. Will look for it.

If I come I have a full size gas grill in the bus.

Thanks, but it won't work for us if you don't get there till 6:00. Takes an hour to cook the chickens.

Craig, i just talked to Sue, and they have a small one on their bus. I cannot remember how your setup works. Does the entire rack have to fit under the lid of the barbque, or are you just looking for a constant heat source. This one will be too small to enclose the rack with its own cover.

For the double, I would need a grill that the two chickens could fit under the cover. Remember they are standing up.

I can make my small BBQ grill work. I've used it before. It just leaves a little skin on the inside of the lid  :)

We will bring potatoes to bake for Saturday dinner.  I don't think we can bake all the potatoes in our oven at one time though.  Does anyone else have a working oven to help cook the potatoes in?  We will also bring sour cream, cheese, etc for toppings on the potatoes.

We are still considering what to bring for breakfast.  Will post back later when we have that figured out.

gumpy

I have an oven in the bus, but maybe we can do them on the grill, along with the chicken, or in the camp fire. Bring aluminum foil if you have some. I'll try to remember to put some in, too.

Hey All,

Can I do blueberry and strawberry pancakes one of the mornings?? We are not sure what to bring for the potluck part. How about some home made fresh salsa and chips and some cheese, crackers and summer sausage? smoked salmon... appetizer type stuff.

Billy Mc cannot make it but I'll bring my PA and guitar.

I talked to "beer butt" Craig and Lea and I are going to bring some ribeye's and we'll prepare them using my secret, highly classified, "I could tell you how I do it but then I'd have to kill ya" recipe ( it's rare to medium rare so if you like your steak well done you might wanna pass or throw it back on when we're not looking!!)  and I was thinking after their done i'll cube them and you can grab a toothpick and have a few bites while we're waiting for the chicken to roost!! I mean roast...

Wouldn't want to ruin any appetities for the worlds greatest chicken chef extraordinaire.

Monsieur Gumpster....

I am so looking forward to meeting some of you and reconnecting with others...

This is gonna be a hoot!!!

You know, I was just thinking about how much wine I should bring.  Any idea how much Debbie is going to drink this year?

Here's a picture of last year's gathering. Anyone care to guess which one is Debbie?   ::)

Hey John,

Yeah, I wish you could too. You'd like this group of busnuts. They're fun to be around.

Craig, , , last year, didn't we use an open burner for the chicken? Can't remember how they were covered up. Maybe a tin foil tent would work.

Rick, the "appetizers" sound great. Also, if you guys want to do the pancakes on Sun, that would work real well too. Just let the group know. I am looking forward to the live music.

We might have a movie one night also. You guys all need to talk nice to Don and Sue for that. We did a "bedsheet" movie night up in Ely and it worked out real well.

Well, it sure sounds like none of us will be going home hungry after this weekend! Hey Deb, it looks like about 12 more nights - right?
