Its been in the garage for 6 years this month. I had it running in the drive a few times last year. I now have it out on the road w/ plates and insurance. So far all runs (50 miles total ) have been good, pulls local hills well. I took it on a pretty steep hill, the jake worked well but on the return I got behind an old geiser in a pickup doing 35. So unable to see how it would pull the hill. On the down side at idle (sitting) I get some vibration. Not to bad but thinking of new rubber mounts (yes I am cheap and put in the old ones). 29 years old = hard?  I may buy new MCI mounts or does anyone have a source for better mounts?  Thanks Tom

I'll bet you feel better than a kid in a candy store! You have to be stoked! ;)

Vibration is not good, your thought of replacing the mounts is a good one, now you get to do it all over again! ;D

Great job!

Maybe set the idle up a little. I doubt the motor mounts will make any difference. If you do change them buy rubber ones. The new colored ones fail alot sooner than the old rubber ones. Thats not what they will tell you, but thats the way it is.

Paul, I think I can change them in place by lifting the motor some.

5573, Yes if I set the idle higher it is better. With the electronic engine I can raise it up. The vibration is not that bad, but if I can make it better?     Thanks Tom Y

Looks really nice, and clean! What engine did you take out and how well (physical/size wise) does the Cummins fit?

Tom,

Isn't the L10 a mechanical engine?

I bet you get close to 10MPG with that setup.  Great project!

AWESOME Tom!  I bet it felt really good to get it on the road.  Sounds like you are doing the slow easing into mileage thing I did.  See how it does on short trips and slowly add on longer trips.  Good job with the build out.  So, when are you coming West!?

John the L10 came both ways electronic or manual  fwiw

Dave, I had a 8V71 in it. The L10 does not fit with a 740 without adding 15 inches.

John, As noted it is electronic. 330 hp and 1250 lbs torque

Brian, Thanks. Hope to run west maybe this summer. The plan is to head to Maine in a couple weeks.
