OK, I made a HUGE mistake by getting rid of the original ceiling panels for my bus.  I have a 1983 MCI 9 and would really love to find a set.  I need all of them except the very front one that goes over the drivers area.  If anyone has the ceiling panels for this model bus, please let me know.
Thanks,
Shannon

I just threw away a set of panels for an '8 except for four that I used under the rear floor.

We didn't throw ours away for ours. That was nice aluminum and it has found its way into many places onto our bus, where we needed things fabricated...

Sorry about Sam's price being too high. He commands a high dollar ;D ;D ;D.

I have found him to be reasonably priced and he usually throws a unexpected surprise on the pallet for you. I think maybe he would have to remove a set from a bus and that is why the price is where it is. If so it's very reasonable. Keep in mind the scrap value would be at least a hundred bucks don't ya think?

Luke & Oscar have a large collection of parts busses in New Jersey.  They might be worth a call.  888-COACH34

Rick,

I actually do think that is a good price for the panels. Sam is a nice guy. He would have taken those panels out of another bus, so he would have a lot of labor in it. Aluminum is expensive, so I really don't think that is too high. My point was simply, "Just because it comes out of an old bus, doesn't mean that it is free ;D."

For everybody else, Sam has told me that the thing that he doesn't like about busnuts (listen up ya'll) is when somebody calls in to see if he has a part. The part is worth 250, but he has 75 of them sitting around that he knows won't sell well. So he decides to give them a break on the price, and tells the 50 plus shipping (even though it is worth a lot more). He said that people will actually try to get him down on his prices even more. He said that busnuts are the worst about it, and that doesn't even make him want to get up and ship it for 50. So FWIW, I think he tries on his prices, and what will sell, he will sell for what it's worth. After all, he is in it for a business, not a charity ;D.

God bless,

John

I think part of the issue with Busnuts and pricing is we simply don't have any idea what the parts should cost.  We also don't have a revenue stream like a bus company.  Unless I call around or can find a price online I have no idea if a vendor is ripping me off or not.  I know from reading this forum that there are some of us that are a breakdown away from giving up on the bus due to finances and need to save every penny on parts and repairs.

I have priced parts I thought would be mega expensive and found they are dirt cheap, but I have also thought other parts would be cheap and they were priced like precious metal.  I don't of anyone with used Dina parts so I have no experience buying used bus specific parts for my bus.

To the OP, have you tried Easter Bus Sales?  They have a ton of parts buses, but I have also heard they won't pull and sell parts.

I am, by no means, saying the price is too high, it just happens to be too high for me.  I don't have that much and it's nobody's fault but my own.  Nothing against the sellers at all!  I just have to keep my eyes peeled for the deal!

Shannon,

I understand about the money issues :o :o :o. I hope that you can get things figured out.

PS. Belfert, you had a good post. I think that sums it up pretty well.
