New Member Hello to all. Fixing air leaks mc9

  Hello to all, I am new to the forum. I have an 1984 mc9 that I am trying to track down the air leaks. So far I have located several in the engine compartment that I am attempting to fix. Both of the regulators for the blower belt tensioner and the a/c belt tensioner are leaking along with the shutterstat air filter. Are there kits available to put new gaskets in these or is it best to just replace them new? The part numbers that I have in my parts manual do not seem to be good anymore. Thanks in advance

Welcome!

I'm pretty sure they make rebuild kits for the air tensioners. You will have to weigh out the cost verses new.

Sounds like you and a soapy water spray bottle will be very busy....

  Thanks for the welcome.  I am the third owner of the coach. It was purchased new in 83 and converted my Marathon in late 83 as an 84 model. I am currently remodeling the interior and doing repairs on some of the systems that need attention ie: cruisairs, engine oil leaks, air system leaks, and front air step. Just finished replacing heat exchanger water heater, fixed genset nostart, re-plumbed leveling system and replaced all leveling solenoids.

      The numbers I find in my parts book for the regulators are 4F-22-5 (belt blower tension) and 4G-22-154 for A/C belt tensioner. Is there a single regulator that replaces both of these and just needs to be adjusted to the proper pressure at installation? The shutterstat air filter assy shows to be 6-10-20. Can I just purchase a gasket for it 6-10-27, or is that even recommended? It seems to be leaking where the two halfs bolt together. My shutterstats have been turned off for a while and I would like to put them back in proper working order.

My air cylinder for the generator leaked also but I was able to fix it with some ordinary o rings from a local parts store. Later

Welcome Kvan,

Sounds like your own the right track.  Most have rebuild kits that only take a few minutes to install.  I always clean as much as I can before installing new kits.  I just rebuilt two air regulator located inside the engine compartment, forward bulk head up high.  You will have to crawl in behind the engine from the passenger side engine compartmet door to get to them.  If they are leaking, and I'm betting they are.  The rebuild kits are $25.00 each from Luke.  Watch very carefully how you take them off the wall.  They are a pain to put back in.

Don't know if you have a manuel for your bus yet, if not, get one.
