Allison HT 747 D Fact Rebuilt with zero time

Guys,

A friend showed me this trans today.  Never been installed or shifted in anger.  He said it has a torque converter and bell that fit a 6V92.  He asked me to try and help him set a price on it so he can sell it at a later date.  Anybody have an idea of what it is worth.  Does the HT mean that it has low gears?  I think Allison can furnish data as they did the overhaul....supposedly.

JohnEd, the HT means hydraulic transmission and you can buy a rebuilt 740 from United Transmission for 3300.00 with a 1 year warranty good at any Allison dealer. Some shops sell them for around 2800.00 but the warranty is only good at their shop.       good luck

I would guess that those rebuilders want a core which could add another $1200 or so to the price.

Lin, some re -builders charge you a steep core charge for those guys I buy a core from a guy in Phoenix for 250.00   good luck

That is a good point in the pricing of the trans.  If you are converting you have the "core" value/charge to add to the equation.

I am still not clear on what the thing is worth.  He should be able to get the overhaul confirmation from Alyson/DD as they did the work.  I guess that the $2300 figure would hold unless you didn't have a core(conversion) and then that would make it  $2,300 PLUS $250 as some sort of base price..

I know for a fact that Kevin wants to sell this thing and has even offered me a commission which I refuse for any dealings on this board.  Ethics or something and I fully expect to PAY a commission to anybody for whatever they do so there are no stones being thrown.  Gumpy refused any mark up and he drove 40 miles and sent it to me before he got my check....I got a lot of payback to come up with sometime on that deal.  So make Kevin an offer if you have any interest cause he sure does.
