Hi Busnuts,

I have a rather "tight" spot in which I park our bus.  Need to squeeze it between the  ( now, bent - previously new) gutter on the roof, and a large fir tree, and wife's garden.   Only about 2 inches clearance to the gutter - if I play it right.  Of course, there I go, thinking "no problem"... Somehow ended up getting the bus window stuck against the gutter while pulling out from the house.  So, I need to do some clever manuevering to get the bus off the gutter.  Ha!  I did it!  Ooops..  My wife's flower garden.  She had been warning me - "don't take out the bus, it's rainy, and it makes tracks through the lawn.".  Naturally I tell her - don't worry - no problem.  Well, we know how that goes.  Anyways - - I gotta drive it over a small patch of lawn to get it out of that tight spot.  Well, now there was a 6 inch trench right through her garden - not so good.  The tire shredded her plants.  Wow.  really - they were like someone ran a cheese grater over them.  And what to do about the trench leading up to the garden.  Pretty obvious.  I know - I'll use my jeep to smooth out all the trenches in the lawn.  Well, that really made a mess of things.  The driveway then looked like someone had a mud fight on it.  Things are getting worse.  But maybe it will rain.  I run my errand in the bus - fixing a bad valve stem at the truck tire shop.  Get back home, back the bus in the parking spot, and look to put out my nice, handy bus step.  Can't find it, just a piece of flat metal by the side of the house.  Ha Ha.  Wow,  Who knew that fold up step could completely go "flat" on one side.  Really.  Flat.  I'm skipping my wife's comments as this is a family forum..

Kind Regards, to all.

I bet they heard ya cussin in the next county.  ;D Thanks for sharing that it's good to know someone else does those kinda things.

Thanks for the encouragement Airbag - plenty more stories where that came from.   ;D   :D

The "did it again" came from the fact that I got stuck on that gutter a couple of years ago.  Got stuck so bad that I had to saw off the gutter to move the bus w/o serious damage to something.  I vowed that would never happen again.  Well, at least I didn't have to saw it off this time.  Now, it's just kinda lumpy.   :D  :D  :D

Phil,

Long time no speaka ;D. Sorry about you bus woes. Did all of that happen yesterday? If so, my day went just about the same as yours, kinda rough....A typical Monday... :( I took a piece of aluminum into get bent yesterday, to replace the ac condenser mesh. I brought it home, and what do you know? Wrong size... :( :( :(. So I have to see whether they made it wrong, or I measured wrong. Yup, I know what those kind of days feel like.

Oh well, I hope you get everything cleared up, and your gutter fixed.

God bless,

John

Anyone else have any bus related OOPS stories.  I am sure we have all had these happen to us, probably more than once. Like accidentally and unknowingly tripping the emergency stop (yeah, not once, but twice). Or shutting off the rear switch, then getting all upset when the engine won't start, (also more than once).  Hmm, maybe this is the beginning of "old timers disease.  LOL  Jack

Yes Jack - an OOPS thread!!  That would be good, AND a learning experience.   :D   Now, as I don't want to dominate this thread at the risk of looking like some kind of goofball, I hope someone else jumps in as well.   ;D  :D  :D   Ha Ha.  Not that I COULD dominate it of course.   :P

Ok guys here you go! This one will definitely draw your shorts up tight. At least I THINK it was my shorts that were tight because my butt had no more draw to it!

Imagine yourself driving a bus (mine) with electronics that I was not at all that familiar with and leary of just about everything. No make that EVERYTHING! Anyway, while we were going to a rally in Timmonsville, we were to meet up with another bus nut which we did. He lives just south of the Georgia state line in Florida so once coupled we were on our way, ON I-95 North that is with very heavy traffic in the DARK! Let me tell you what you DON'T want to do, and that is try to turn on the dome lights while SORT OF guessing where that switch is amongst all the others on the side dash and accidently hit the KNEELING button. Any one that has a KNEELING button knows the bus will drop pretty darn fast in the front and if you know Prevost H-models you will also know that it drops right down on the steer tires. Mine does anyway. Anyhow, with lights on the dash flashing, air hissing, bus dropping, TRAFFIC whizzing by and your best half saying "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" all while your trying like crazy to get off the road and stopped and at the same time thinking what could be wrong. Once stopped, my friend whom we met up with was standing at the closed and locked entrance
door trying to get IN while I am trying to hit the door switch that unlocks and opens the door. This is when I found out that the door switch doesn't work if it's LOCKED and your on the inside. Got the door open and realized what I had done. I then pushed the KNEELING button again and back up the bus went. No harm done, so I thought! Went to close and latch the door. That wasn't happening! Somehow in all the confusion, The electric and air switch and the air valve got out of sync and nothing was working like it was supposed to. The door kept POPPING open scaring the dickens out of the person sitting right next to it. OUT came the ratchet straps to help hold the door closed until we got to Timmonsville. There I was able to clear my thoughts and figure out what was what. It was either that or drink more Corona's so I wouldn't have to listen to the best half all the way home!

All works good now but I look at any and all the buttons before hitting them!

YIKES!!!  I can just imagine that going on.  Also can imagine passenger's reactions.   :D  :D  :D  'Cause I been there a couple times ( at least ) myself!

Thanks for the post Ace - I'll be thinking about that for a while.  Especially on thinking 3 times before hitting any of those funny buttons & switches.   ;D

Kind Regards,
