This 2 days ago. I have been struggling to post these pictures since... with thoughts of trowing the computer out the window...

Finally asked my teenage son and he had it done in less than a minute!!

Anyway, the engine is in now. I have been reconnecting a lot of hoses and wires.  This am I will put up the new rad. I'm hoping to be running by next week. Lots to do yet. Not the least is the charge air plumbing for my new (old) aftercooler.

Did you forget to put the pistons back in that are over in the right hand corner of the first picture? you may get a bit more compression if the engine has pistons in it.

The pistons: well, you have to have some parts leftover! LOL. I'm still thinking of some idea maybe for a decorative use for them for inside the bus. A lamp or cup holder or something... I replaced them with the 2 piece crosshead pistons which come with different rods.

The color: I went to the DD dealer in Calgary (Waterous), asked for DD green, and that's what I came home with. I thought what the heck, and used it anyway.

I built the dolly myself last fall. The rails match the ones in the bus. The casters were really handy for pulling the whole thing away from the bus. I hope I never have to use it again, but I am saving it just in case. Only the future will tell if my rebuilt is any good...

This morning, I reinstalled the exhaust and wrapped it. The turbo too, because it is so close to the bedroom floor.

This afternoon, the new rad goes up. That involves a lot of details like cutting rubber bushings for the mounts, sealing around it, possibly making a new fan shroud, etc.

Then I have to cut the side behind the left rear wheel where I mounted the aftercooler. I have to find a grill, and I think I'll make some loovers to get some ram air to the cooler.

Then the charge air  piping.

Looks Good JC  The frame you built to support the motor is great also. Can't believe Waterous gave you that paint.

Maybe it won't leak oil so that will be a good thing.

Looks almost like Oliver green instead of DD green. But, heyy, they were great engines too!

What does the mill have?  Give us all the juicy details like timing, injectors, turbo, charge cooler...etc.  Have you dynoed the mill?  Wha'd she put out?  HB of CJ

I put the turbo on it 2 years ago. At that time I had the blower rebuilt with the better oil seals to take the extra boost. It made a great difference in power: gave me one gear down going uphill with my 5 speed Spicer. Also no more smoke.

This winter I did a complete overhaul to turbo specs. I had the head rebuilt with new valves, new guides, new inj. tubes, N 75 injectors. The previous owner put the Jakes on.

I did the block with the crosshead pistons, new liners, new rods, new rod bearings, crank bearings, front and back oil seals, standard timing.

I also had the trans. out for oil seals. And the diff. as well for a pumpkin gasket and a pinion seal.

Had the rad recored.

I went to a junk yard and got a dry air filter housing to replace the oil bath. And a air to air intercooler.

I was getting 10 to 12 psi of boost with the turbo by itself. We'll see how much I get with the new setup.

There is quite a bit of work yet to get it running. I  might have to put in a few night shifts if I want it done by next weekend.

We'll see how she runs then. I'll let you know.
