This a.m. I paid $1.99 per gallon for diesel. Same station, regular unleaded was going for 2.19.  It is about time out here in Calitaxfornia that things got back to quasi normal.

How about where you folks are ??? ???

Interesting. It must be a state taxation difference.  I popped over to a couple of websites where they post the fuel prices at truck stop locations around the country. I'd estimate that in most states diesel is running about 20-25 cents/gal higher than regular unleaded.  California and some places in Oregon were the only U.S. stations where diesel was lower.

Doug, I didn't look up where Medford is, but Pilot, Flying J, and T/A  are showing Oregon stations selling diesel at $1.99/gal.

At the other end of the spectrum we have the wonderful taxation states of NY and Mass where diesel is running about 60 cents/gal higher than regular unleaded.

Yeah, we not only live on the left coast and pay higher prices for practically everything but i live in Jackson county which has the highest prices in Oregon.  I would assume the $1.99 price is up north because Costco gas is now even over $2.00/gallon.

Did I mention I was tired of Oregon?

Not sure which Paul you are asking the question, seems there's more than one now! ;D

In Northern Ireland it's about .94 + - (pound) per litre.

That's about $5.49 per gallon, that is if my conversion is correct with today's market!

It was much higher last December, when the dollar was up. It is 1.44 per pound now.

I was surprised with this thread, as in NJ we are at lowest $2.12 - $2.10 /gal of Diesel, Reg unleaded is about $1.70.
That diesel was at an independant truck stop near Camden ( only Second this year in homicides ).

Pardon me if I digress for a moment on a topic somewhat related to this thread.

Here in the Mid-Atlantic states and in New England it is pretty common to heat homes with a "heating oil" furnace. Home heating oil is essentially diesel fuel without the highway taxes. The delivery services give you several payment options. You can pay-as-you-go, but you are at the mercy of fluctuating prices which typically tend to rise in the winter. Or you can opt for the delivery service's annual pre-pay plan that locks in a rate by purchasing the what you intend to use up front (summer).

Some years we pre-pay, some years we do not.   Last June, with fuel prices skyrocketing, our delivery service sent us notification that this year's lock-in price would be $4.34/gal.   Yikes.  But at the way prices had been climbing it looked like it could hit $5.   Another nasty Gulf hurricane and we could see $6.  The pre-pay option was the oild delivery service's version of the Eastwood question: "So, do you feel lucky?"

Well, we opted not to pre-pay (Whew!).  Yesterday we had a tank of oil delivered.  The price.....drumroll....  $1.74 / gal.   Let's just say there are lot's of folks with a major case of the pissed-offers cause they bought at $4.34.  And that is not just my delivery service's figure.  Another local company set their summer pre-pay at $4.36.

Seems like folks have to be experts in oil futures to survive these times.
If you're going to be dumb, you gotta be tough.

EdNJ,

I have seen previous posts of less expensive fuel in central Jersey, but with my 140 mile daily commute with one of two diesel vehicles I still can not do better than the $ 2.10. Next bus fill up / exercise run may require me to stop up....

Thanks and enjoy the day.

WEC4104, I could use some of your assistance in planning my 401K with your notibable, recent, expertice in oil futures.... LOL.

Slow Rider

Here in the DC Greater Metropolitan Area ( we are 30 miles south of DC on I-95 ) gas is going for 1.99 a gallon and diesel is 2.69.

Just 30 miles south of us diesel is 1.99 a gallon.  Oil is holding under 40 dollars a barrel but fuel prices are going up.   Bunch of fargin bastages.

I rarely jump on the oil companies because I understand the difference between profit and profit margin.  But this time, I truly believe we are being hosed because they can.

Stepping off of my soapbox now.....
