Hi All,

I'd like opinions from those members who have actually used the following system:      http://www.readybrake.com/brake-systems.html
I'm considering it, but don't want to waste my time or funds if this system doesn't work as advertised.  Thanks!

Hi Darrell,

Maybe I missed something about the Break away system. Is there one??

This is a requirement in just about all states when towing anything over 1500#'s.

I have a home made version that works very well. Regardless of stop severity hitch pressure on the bus is almost zero. Takes a little adjusting at first though.
For breakaway I used an electric window motor winding up a 2nd cable to pull the toad brake pedal. It winds up with enough force to slide toad tires. It is triggered by a
conventional break away switch, winds up with enough foce to slide tires. The elec. motor then stalls and blows an 8 amp fuse so nothing burns up. This is powered by
toad battery. A new fuse, momentarily reversing wires resets motor. I do this with a DPDT momentary toggle switch. Simple and bullet proof.

Thanks Jerry!
Bill, I like your idea.  Just happen to have several motors from past street rod projects.  Would you happen to have pics that you could email me?

Looks like they have a break-away device that locks a cable in the brake on position as an accessory.

Darrell    It looks like the factory unit #RS-5000 for a $100 is the way to go. When I did mine that was not available. Also liability issues prevail.     06 Bill  64 PD 4106 V730

I really like this system and a friend has installed a few.  He has had no complaints and no returns.  Not true with EVERYTHING else, however.  Canada approves this system when equipped with a breakaway feature/accessory.

Here is something I have wondered about..... With the toad engine of and no vac ....if you left the ig. on would the antilock brake system perform?  With all the force available from that actuating cable you don't NEED the vac boost so would that disable the antilock?  Antilock would minimize the critical aspect of the brake adjust and give you some braking in a panic that would lock up the toad.   Thoughts?

thanks,

John
