My band will be doing an Australia and New Zealand tour in july....we will be flying out of LAX on the morning of July 7th and we will be in Australia for 3 weeks and New Zealand for 2.  We will need a place to store our bus and trailer for 5 weeks.  If anyone lives in this area or knows someone that would be awesome.

Regardless, this is the first time I am doing something like this, so if anybody has any suggestions of places to contact that would allow me to store my coach in case nobody lives in this area that would be a huge help as well!

Hi;
I have a place with 10acres that you could park.  It is located
about  2hrs north of LAX.  Send me an e-mail when the time
    gets closer.

You might check with Don Fairchild in Bakersfield, Ca.  Even though it is 2 hours north, he has a big lot and might give you a great price (maybe free) for storing it (661-391-4520).  Good Luck, TomC

Dockwieler State Beach RV Park, right at the end of the runway.

You could probably also find a renter and make a little profit.

Hey Basil,if you park yours there I might be interested in renting for the weekend  ::).Van

I am going to be over at Gary's next Wednesday afternoon.  The 20kw generator came in and we are going to look at the install between the steers.

Ilya-- Storage is really pricey in LA.  If the free offers don't work out, try Valencia Travel Village 661-257-3333, near Magic Mountain, about 35 miles from LAX.  I store mine there and there are a couple of entertainers that also store there.  $110/month for 40 footer.  Fenced and patrolled storage lot, so relatively secure.  They seem pretty full, but might have a short term spot.

Basil-- If you have a MCI 5 you might fit at Dockweiler State Beach, but I believe they have a 35' max. limit.  They might have one or two spots that can accommodate a 9.

For others contemplating a trip to LA, the Dockweiler campground is convenient to much of LA and has unparalleled ocean views to the south and west, but it is as Basil mentioned is directly under the flight path for a departure runway at LAX and is a few hundred yards from the LA sewage treatment plant.  All I'm sayin is "buyer beware".

Their rules page does say 35' limit.

If the lots are full, you might check with the owner of this forum, Mike Kadletz.

I don't know:

  • that he would have room on his bus lot
  • if he would be willing to do it (liability reasons)
  • what the security situation is there (he has several high value buses there, so I would think security is ok there)

I haven't asked him about it and I have no idea if he would be willing or able.  But if it did work out, he is located in Westminster about 1/2 an hour (close in Los Angeles thinking) south down the 405 freeway from LAX.

MAK's parking is very limited! He has room for several buses, which he always has more of than he has room for! LOL! But he may know of a place! But I'd see about using Merle's offer or Don & Dale in Bakersfield they might even take the group and trailer down to LAX in Don's target truck (sorry couldn't pass the opportunity!) to unload and meet them again when they arrive "BACK IN THE USA!" (hey ain't that a song or somthin? LOL!   ;D  BK  ;D

I stopped by Dockwieler two weeks ago.  They are closed for a few more weeks for construction, but the guy at the gate said they can handle any size RV.  It is the only California state park not operated by California, so their rules are a little different.  I took a look around and it looked fine for my 45 footer (was thinking about doing a few nights in the summer since they allow fires on the beach...sounded like fun).

One other LA hint.  I had to park in west hollywood same weekend visiting my brother and gave me the idea to park near a movie shoot that was going on.  No ticket since they assumed I was industry even though I had no permit in the window.
