Hey Ace,
  You mentioned:
Quote" Oh and I will have a primer set-up just in case I need it or anyone else needs it using a bug sprayer. That is way cool the way it works using an a/c fitting!"
I was wondering if this is what you were talking about?
(The little fitting on the top of the top filter.)
That is what my best guess is, but not sure how to use it. I was thinking a Dawn dishwashing soap bottle and hose may work, but not sure.
  Any suggestions??
  Thanx,

Chaz, the fitting your referring to in your picture doesn't exactly look to me like an a/c fitting but I could be wrong  and yes, it appears it's in the place where a primer would be although mine will be in where your square plug is on the side of the housing!

I have heard of people using a soap bottle but they tell me that sometimes priming an engine can take a bit of doing and a cheap (1 gal) bug sprayer will hold more fuel and apply more pressure than the bottle! I got mine at Lowes for 10 bucks and a barbed fitting for 3 bucks!

I hope never to have to use mine but I'll have it IF i ever need it! Besides the bug sprayer and fittings will be available to those others that MAY need it!

When I get it done I'll post some pics! Right now everything is still torn down!

That fitting looks like it might be a SAE #6 Flared fitting. I tried blowing the photo up and it appears to have a flare on it. The SAE fittings have a 45 degree flare and the JIC fittings have slightly more tapered 37degree flare. The SAE and the JIC will interchange except for the sizes #6 and #12. I am assuming there was a cap screwed on that fitting..right? If so, you could take the cap or You could take the fitting off and take it to an Auto/Truck Parts store and they could identify it for you without much problem and even set you up with the adapters needed to connect that fitting to your hose sprayer.

Actually, what you see IS a cap. I do believe it is a female flare fitting under it.
I'm not "attached at the hip" to this set up. I was just wondering what it was and how to make it work. It seems that someone had some sort of idea for it. But if taking it off and putting something else on there is a better idea....... I'm all for it!!!  ;D
Bottom line- I hope to hell I never have to mess with running out and priming again!! I got my fill on my "maiden voyage" with the bus and learned real quick you don't want to chance it. I now keep my tank full as best I can. (easy insurance) But if I should have a "blonde moment", at least it won't cost me ANOTHER tow bill!!!  >:(

Thanx for help, jlink.

That looks like some test fittings on our MC-8. If it is the same thing, it is kinda like an oversize Schraeder valve. Is there a "valve core" inside it.  If it is the same as ours, the fitting is similar to those used on AC gauges. We have these on different air compoments as well as on the secondary fuel filter. Steve Gibbs was at our place when a friend needed to check his tag axle air bag pressure. Steve pulled out what looked like an AC gauge without the manifold, just one hose with a gauge on the end of it. The other end had a fitting that connected to what looked like what is on your filter.  Jack

Chaz as I stated, an a/c fitting like Jack described with a valve core inside will be attached to my now plugged hole on my secondary filter. It will always have a cap screwed on it when not priming which I hope is always! LOL

Here is what I will be attaching to my 1 gallon bug sprayer!

The female end will screw onto the a/c fitting and the small threaded end on the right will have a barbed fitting that will clamp to the bug sprayer hose! I think it's pretty simple!

Oh and the handle valve in line was just what I had and not really needed but it could come in handy to insure no loss of pressure while priming, I think anyway!  ::)

Looks easy enough.  I know I have some old R12 charge hose around somewhere.  This would be a twofer since it would use something that I will probably never have any use for.  I bet I will not be able to find it now.  Do you plan to carry the bug sprayer wherever you travel?
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Blacksheep

Lin yes I plan on carrying it all the time! I will keep a little fuel in the sprayer but will refresh it as I need to!

Although my generator tank has an easy access to acquire fuel, it would save me some time if someone else needed to use it!
