I am getting ready to price and order new windshields and front side glass for my GMC 4905.

For the sides I want the sliding glass windows.  Curious how others who have these like or dislike.

I went through the archives, but would like to hear who you have purchased from and a link, if you have one.

Any comments pro or con with suppliers appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cliff Ron Frazier just had his 4104 at my house for an interior refurb and I noticed he had aftermarket windows on the sides. I was very impressed with the way they slide and the way they were tinted. I think he said they were from Peninsula!

Oh they had screens as well!

Yup,  Both of my coaches have em too.  I need two passenger side windshields.   Bill T.

Cliff,
I purchased our new windshields from MCI. Our side windows (sliders) were purchased in Elkhart but Peninsula glass probably makes the best RV type side windows for buses (I think they are now called Motion Windows or Motion glass).  Fred Hobe used Hehr windows that have an awning type section in the bottom. The awning type can be left open in the rain but do not allow as much air movement. The sliders allow much more air movement, but need to be under an awning in the rain.  Choices???     Jack

Luckily, there are a lot of coaches out there which use the same windshield, so I think the glass is still in production.  I shudder to think what it would be like if the glass had been unique only to the handful of 4903/4905 units built.

This, BTW, is why so many RVs had flat glass.

Hi FloridaCliff,
For windshields, I would just call a local auto glass company. The windshields are the same for 4104-4905 and some GMC semi-tractors and are readily available through the glass company's suppliers. When I ordered the ones for our 4106 they had them the next day. The rubber gasket, that holds the windshields, I ordered from Luke at US Coach, 888-262-2434.
If by "front side glass" you mean door and drivers windows, I got mine from Penisula Glass, now Motion Windows, 800-468-4323, www.motionwindows.com. E-mail for Tom Kemp is tom@motionwindows.com.
I hope this helps and good luck.
Thanks, Sam 4106

I think you get the idea about the windshield from the previous posts.  Windshields for the 4905 are still available from numerous vendors, reasonably price, and the rubber is available also.

I'm not sure which side windows your referring to.

For our 4905 I got sliding Pennisula windows for the driver's window and also the window on the front door.  Best money I ever spent.  Allowed me to get fresh air from more than the toll booth window and the co-pilot also was now able to get some fresh air.  Kind of nice also to be able to open the window and talk to someone when they walk up to the drivers side, instead of sticking my nose out the tool booth window (LOL).....

The large side windows are also Pennisula sliding windows.  Very high quality and if I was to do it again I would also get these again.

All windows are high quality, come with sliding screens, lock closed when shut.

The Pennisula windows are somewhat pricey, but I feel they were worth the money.

The pictures are old, but I think you'll get the idea.

Cliff,

Found another picture of a side window on the 4905.

Again these are old pictures but I think they will help you.  This is the inside of the window.  You can't see the screen, but there is a screen on the front side of the window which slides open.

Guy's,

Thanks for all the great information and pictures.

After we lost our generator on a trip him in July, I have been wanting to put some sliding windows up front, for all the reasons mentioned.

I just have to get the roof on my new barn addition 20X50, and then I can take out the windows, clean up any issues around the glass area, spray my dash and then put in the new windows.

Have a Great Day!
