Everyone has their favorite.

I have the best luck with Stemco Grit Guard Seals. Scotseals slide over the Axel stub by hand, (easy installation). Stemcos are driven on with a driver tool and hammer and come with a steel protective cover to keep the elements away from the seal. Stemco also allows use of a wear sleeve if needed to compensate for Axel wear.

so it's ease of installation(scotseal) vs. Longevity & needing special tool (Stemco)?

my 2cents is DO NOT USE NATIONAL, SCOTT SEAL the ones that go over the axle first! Did a brake job and I replaced 7 seals before I smartened up and used CR, the ones that go into the hub first, similar to a car.

Building a relationship with your local vendors will make borrowing the seal seating tool a breeze...

or buy it,

you'll be needing to do seals again as part of preventive maintenance in the years ahead.

Cheap insurance, new seal every time the wheel end is apart.

happy coaching!
