Question for Spring Brake Experts on Installation Parts

OK, here is what I think I need. Please tell me if I'm on the right track. This has been a great learning experience for me, and I'm glad for it. Still have never received the documentation on changing from DD-3 to Spring Brake.

I should be able to get all of this for less than the cost of one DD-3 rebuilt.

I will use the DOT nylon tubing and new fittings where necessary.

Paul, I didn't find a schematic that used your exact combination but those are the most common, basic, easy to install and replace valves. They are all common to trucking and available anywhere in the country. I'm sure this set up is more serviceable than what you have now and alot cheaper to keep on the road. I think all your bases are covered. The emergency low air application is built in, that is the cheapest QR valve, the best Park Valve for a bus and the MGM cans are fine if they don't say China on them.

Paul I don't know any thing about the DD-3 brakes but i know it can be a job replacing brakes.  I am still working on taking the wedge brakes off of one of my trucks and replaceing them with S-Cam Spring brakes.  It is not all that hard if you can find the parts that don't wear.

Hopefully the DD-3 are some what like the S-Cam and you will not have to change the backing plates and cam holders like I had to.

I have spent the last three weeks or more getting educated on this stuff. I now know how air brakes work!

I don't mind taking the time to do the research as this has taught me a lot about a very important subject.

I just wanted to make sure I had all of my ducks in a row and didn't leave any wandering around!

Thanks for the offer Bob, I'm sure you have plenty to do without lending me a hand . Maybe we'll sit around a campfire one day and discuss all of our adventures.

Dreamscape...right off hand I believe you have gotten the list correct. It AM in morning and busy now till in the evening, so not able to check it but...the Lord willing....I will check it out.

Good that you had read up about air brake system. It take time to learn the puzzle and the whys.

If he doesn't have a dual air system on his bus some of the valves are not needed and also if he will check on Wabco valves he won't need as many some serve 2 functions and are cheaper. people get hung up to much on Bendix there are others just as good if not better  have a great day

I'm using Bendix as an example. The pdf files are a great read. They are the only site I could read and compare as their notes are very thorough. I will use whatever brand I can find the cheapest and of course reliable. Wabco right now is my choice.

Good for you Paul, Wabco makes good products and so does Haldex/ Midland at a better price I have a Wabco air dryer and it cost less than 1/2 the price of a Bendix AD-9 to service          have a great day

1 ea. two-way check valve between service and park tank.

I will use my PP-2 Emergency Park Valve, as it will work just fine.

I am very fortunate to have two air brake experts giving me guidance in this conversion process, as their expertise is appreciated and necessary for a "Job Well Done".
