OK I know this has been asked B4! But I just ain't real computer smart! So's?

OK guy's, gals and children of all ages, I need to know which aircard is the right one for me! OK As I said before I'm computer challenged, so I need some help here.

I know several of ya have one yer happy with. how about it folks what do I look for? I need one that is cheap )like me), reliable, and works mosteverywhere.

Your advice & opinions will be greatly appreciated!   BK

Hey BK!

I have used an AT&T aircard for the past 14 months and it works pretty good. It's a 3G model, and does not work that great in a 2G area like here in Abilene.  It's just too slow, reminds me of dial up service sometimes.

If you live in an area with spotty or no reception, it's like a cell phone, no worky.

The best part is my work supplied it for my traveling, so I don't have to pay for it. 

I'm sure others will have a more realistic approach to value.

Verizon USB720 for 2 years now, I love it!  Works everywhere.

They are only as good as the providers service in the area where you are.  Verizon and AT&T probably has the most cell towers.  I would get the USB version as you can purchase a cord and hang it close to a window for a little better service.

     As was mentioned, depends on what service is avaialble where you are.  We use the Mellenicom and have used it throughout the SE. My understanding is that Mellenicom uses the towers of several providers including Sprint, Verizon, etc. 
    Our air card plugs in to a USB port on the computer and an extension cable can be used to put the antenna near a window.  We installed a roof mount antenna in our bus for better reception.  Jack

I use Sprint and am happy with it, is it the absoulute best? I dont know but works well for me. Interestingly the Data coverage is much better than the cell phone coverage. I have been in two areas with no cell phone and the Data coverage is great. Dont take my word for it look at the Sprint website for coverage!
If I were doing this again and nothing has changed, I would go with the Millenicom, the monthly rate was cheaper and no two year contract. I hate thier contracts, I feel like there is some judge on a bench. Bellowing out,  I sentance you to two years of rotten service with no possibility of parole!! HTH Jim

Bk; if your are going to use it for commercial use go with a Qualcomm air card we use it with AT&T service and is the only one we found that worked everywhere FWIW the cards are expensive compared to other air cards from BestBuy or the carriers

I can with certainty say no aircard will work everywhere.  Plenty of areas out west have no service of any kind. 

I like Verizon Wireless because my phone works almost everywhere around the midwest and so does my aircard.  Your mileage may vary in other regions.  I really wish the carriers would all go with one standard like GSM so there is more chance of my phone working everywhere.  Some areas my CDMA Verizon phone won't work yet those with Cingular and T-Mobile on GMS work just fine.

Millenicom has raised their rates to 59.99 a month. BUT, they still do not require a contract, and you save another 7 - 9 bucks a month or so, because they do not charge any fees or taxes. It really is only 59.99 a month! And yes, they use all of the Sprint-Verizon etc equipment.

Along with all posted....before you purchase any system...be sure you can get a refund if it won't work wherever you are. You may have to keep searching until you have 3 systems on hand to cover most? ? ?

I am Verizon wireless user. Had Nextel/Sprint that didn't work here Elloree, SC and in the mountain of Andrews, NC

If you are going to be on interstates most of the time you should have no trouble with any service it is when you get out in the sticks that the problems start.

I have a Verizon card and it "worked" in Kansas BUT it was slow because they don't own the towers in Kansas they contract them out.

Also I got the USB connection so you can put the " antenna " near the window or outside.

Was it Broadband/EVDO or National Access/1X?  National Access is always going to be relatively slow.

I was in a fairly rural area earlier this summer with an engineer that works for Verizon Wireless.  He was shocked that I got Broadband speeds because he didn't think the Broadband had been turned on in that area yet.
