Ace,
Stroke listed on a linear actuator is total distance the arm will move from fully retracted to fully extended. If your TV is 12.5" and you want the bottom of the TV even with the top of the cabinet when raised, you will probably need a minimum of a 13-14" stroke (to allow top of TV to be slightly below the top of the "fireplace" when retracted. Note: designing a bell crank with uneven arms can allow a shorter stroke actuactor to be used, but involes quite a bit of design and fabrication.
As far as 12 or 120 volt, your call.  Since you have to have 120 to operate the TV, 120 for the actuator would be no problem.  I do not know what the difference is in operating life or price between the 2. I looked for the linear actuator I thought I had.  I must have already gotten rid of it.  Jack

Thanks guys! I think I've got it all figured out now. Look at many different types and styles. Will start building the fp/tv cabinet tomorrow. Got all the wood needed today and tomorrow I should get a price quote returned to me about the lift. One way or the other, the new cabinet HAS to be made, now that I tore the LR apart! With any luck I might have this done before our next trip on the 4th. Well almost done anyway! I will take pics along the way just for you all!
Thanks again...
