Hey all, do I need to take my air tanks down to sand blast or just paint with por15 and if I do take them down where do I get the new bands to put them back don't know if the old ones will be able to use again. Thanks in advance.   T806 1986 40' GMC RTS 6V92TA

I would think any truck parts shop should be able to help you.

First, are they leaking?  If they are leaking, you might be better off repalcing then.  If you repair a leak now, how long before another weak spot rust through and starts leaking.
Worst area for leaks is usually under the band. If there are no leaks and you want to help prevent future leaks by coating with POR15, you will need to remove them to paint the are under the bands (for best possible paint job).  I have removed tanks and re-installed them using the original bands.  Jack

I am going to move one of my airtanks.  I am thinking about replacing it since it is old and rusty.  Where is a good place to buy new ones.  I have seen some air tanks for sale on ebay and places in the $75 range.  Are these sufficient for our use?

Heavy truck salvage yard is the first place I'd look.

I'd second that!

Unless of course the ones on the "bay" are new, and shipping ain't to high!
