Sounds like you have a viable plan. Just think the hard parts done for this part of the restoration.
Implement and don't look back......well at least that is what I am always told :)

I hope you will post more pictures as you progress.

here is what it looks like now from close to the same angle as the last picture I posted just a few mintues ago.

If you look you can see an quart of oil I laid on the top of the air breather tube for referance to show distance and size.
