Hello folks, I have enjoyed reading the post and now need some info. I bought a mc9 and am wanting to raise the roof. I bought a video buy George Myers. it is helpful but not an mc9. Does anyone have some suggestions or perhaps pictures of raising the roof. more particularly the front and rear cap area? thanks Tom

TTomas, check out Gumpydogs website.

He has done just about exactly what you are contemplating.

In fact, he's done more and documented it than the rest of us contemplate doing.

Of course you could always fly Dallas and I (first class of course) put us up in a great hotel, feed us and pay us a small fortune, to help you!!

Now there's a wonderful thought!

I'll be nice enough to bring a torch, hacksaw and chisel!

Raising a roof isn't all that bad, I have seen it done a couple of times.
The "ART" part is stocking up on the tools end. You gotta have the tools.

So before you start, Make sure that you have the basics covered.

Get a really powerful sawzall and lots of 6 inch 24 or 18 tpi bi-metal blades.
A 14 inch cutoff saw and lots-o-clamps along with some handy HF hydraulic jacks.
Mig welder with Gas option for stainless.

If you have a plasma cutter that's a good thing too..

Contact Fred Hobe. Get in line for a roof raise. Drop off the bus, go to New Orleans for a week and then return when completed.

Easy, cost effective and done ;D

Good luck and welcome to the club!

Thanks guys, You are very helpful. I would tell you that I would think about your offers to come help or supervise, but with this great site I can get all the advise needed. And I am the supervisor and I would rob my boys of this valuable experience.
I am very thankful for your help and input and will try to return the favor whenever possible.  Tom
