Steering Wheel replacement GMC 4905

I own a converted (or 95% so) '74 GMC 4905A.  Can I replace the steering wheel with an aftermarket unit from a truck or car?  I've seen some 18" models that would work quite well, but I can't find my shaft size anywhere.  Thanks.

I have a 1975 GMC 4905 and I have an aftermarket wheel with the GMC logo on the horn, leather sewn grip, chrome spokes.
