Active Start is a plug-and-play device designed to help RV owners manage power limitations when plugged into lower-amperage shore power outlets (e.g., 15, 20, or 30 amps) instead of the typical 50-amp service. It provides soft start functionality for induction loads such as roof air conditioners, microwaves, and residential refrigerators, reducing the high amps inrush when these appliances start up. This helps prevent tripping circuit breakers and allows users to run multiple appliances on limited power.

Active Start does not alter the running amps of appliances but dampens the startup surge, potentially allowing multiple roof air conditioners to run on a 30-amp outlet or a single one on a 15-amp outlet. The unit also offers surge protection (up to 2100 Joules) and checks for improper wiring at the shore power receptacle. It includes a Bluetooth-enabled app for monitoring power usage in real-time.

This product is especially useful for RVers in campgrounds with limited power or at rallies where temporary power sources are often unstable. The Active Start comes in various versions, including 30-amp and 50-amp models. While it is more expensive than some soft-start units for individual appliances, it provides comprehensive benefits like surge protection, improved motor longevity, and ease of use with no wiring required.
