MCI 5B compressor problem

My '72 MC-5B was slow to build pressure. I removed the compressor inlet adapter and ran it. Air was blasting back out the inlet. I removed the cylinder head. All seems well there. One of the quarter sized valve plates fell out with the head. Could be the problem.
Has anybody else had this problem. I'm hoping to fix it without removing the compressor.

You can either rebuild the compressor with a kit, or exchange the one you have for a rebuilt one. Look up Yvan Lacroix on Utube, I think he did a video on rebuilding a compressor.

The round disk the size of a quarter are the intake valves if one slipped out when you were installing the head they won't pump any air.MCI's with the tilted compressor can be a pain installing unloader valves and everything staying place when reinstalling the head,I remove the compressor myself

Thanks, I'll look for that video. I have the rebuild kit from NJ. I'm thinking I'll remove the whole unit.

The large hex caps on top of the head and the smaller ones underneath with the curved slot for loosening seem to be frozen tight. The valves appear to be working. It would be nice to put new parts in but I'm afraid I'll damage it if I push too hard.  Any advice on loosening them?
I didn't try the large allen drive caps on the outlet valves yet.

If I'm seeing this right, the intake spring goes into the cylinder head. They recommend grease to hold it in place. Then the quarter sized valve plate sits in the crankcase where the unloader can push it open. It all just sits there loose until the cylinder head is tightened? No wonder the one was missing. I didn't see any springs take off when I took the head loose. I guess I could have missed them.
