I am in need of a favor from a fellow BusNut in Jacksonville, FL "if" at all possible/ feasible.

We'll be heading south to the Keys for a job and leaving the Keys to head back north on 3/24, passing through Jacksonville (give or take) around 3pm to 5pm.

I bought a trailer in Jacksonville, but the place closes on Saturday at 1PM.  The trailer will be done by Thurs./Fri., but we'll still be down in the Keys.

I am trying to figure a way that it could be picked up by a fellow BusNut from the Mfg., then retrieved by me sometime around 3pm to 5pm on Saturday.  It requires a 2-5/16" ball and 7-wire electrical plug.

I know it sounds crazy, but I cannot come up with another option, aside from laying over in Jacksonville until Monday.  Problem is it'll be me and two installers -- we all need to be home and back to work for Monday AM.

Your input and ideas greatly appreciated.

Jerry,
I know several busnuts in the JAX area, but do not want to put their phone numbers on the board without their permission. Email me for the information.  Jack

Jerry, they make locks for the tongue of trailers that locks so that no body can hook up to it.
Why not buy a lock and leave it at the dealer (and you keep the key). He could then park it anywhere in the area for a few hours till you pick it up.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, a good Reisling in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming:  WOO HOO, what a ride

Thanks for the input.  I did ask about that and they said No, they wouldn't do it.

So, let me get this straight. You're buying a new trailer from a dealer. You're paying up front and he won't leave it where
you can pick it up, and he won't come to the business for a half hours on the weekend so you can get it on your way through?

What's so special about this dealer or this trailer that you can't but the same thing from a more accomodating dealer elsewhere?

Craig:

I am buying the trailers (plural) from the Mfg.  I did ask and he said that based on their location right next to I-95, he'd make no guarentee that they'd still be there when I arrived.  He said it was their policy -- who knows, maybe they had problems before.  I can respect that.  I've been asked to do things (as a business owner) I tell clients they shouldn't do.  When they push you to do it and it goes awry as expected, they b*tch you out and are discusted, forgetting that you told them it was a bad idea.  So, I can appreciate where these people are coming from if they've had issues as they said.

In any case ... the answer was no.  I've been wanting a dump trailer for a few years.  The same type of trailer up here is about $1,200.00 to $1,800.00 more ... so yeah, I am trying to work it out.  I like saving a buck.
