Thanks! I can learn to do anything with enough time on google and YouTube. I rebuilt my first engine (AMC inline 6 out of a Jeep) when I was 19 with nothing but forums and YouTube videos.

Today, I can keep up with a Mater plumber, Master electrician, HVAC Tech, Most of my education is networking and IT security. And I sell tractors. Im not bad with a saw and nail gun.

I really love your signature "Often wrong, but seldom in doubt". Family members have told me, "Just because your sure does not mean your right". My response is "Ya, but if I am wrong, then I will be sure of it" lol!

I wish I had a picture of pulling the drain plug. It was like coke and mentos. On the up side, I discovered some smaller air leaks in a pressure switch for the tag axle. So I totally did it on purpose to find air leaks.  ::)

Late to the game... i swapped my old MC8 from R12 to R134, following the detailed service bulletin from MCI.

At one point, 30lbs of R12 was $1000... so don't weep too hard about current refrigerant prices...

Back then they were over cautious about changing the oil twice. Time has shown the second rinse wasn't needed.

Good write up.

Stock HVAC rules!

Happy coaching!

$1000!?!? Holy crap. I think 150 was reasonable, The 136 for a gallon of oil was highway robbery though. Defiantly suggest ordering that online.

$300+ for the MO99 so I guess not horrible. But the 407c is so easy to find and cheaper. Local supply house had it right out on the sales floor.
