Are bearing part numbers the same between manufactures?

Bob I don't think Paso One saw your post about shipping the bearings, I will be seeing him tomorrow so I'll ask him. I am getting some from him also.

Call a bearing supply and ask them to cross ref with the IBI. INTERNATIONAL BEARING INTERCHANGE GUIDE (IBI). This 3-volume set references over 463,000 part numbers by specification and design.NOTE: retail cost is $400.00
That is the safest answer.
But, you might get the answer here....at your own risk.

Best answer is, "It depends." Most of the old bearing houses did consolidate their bearing numbers, usually with a manufacturer's prefix. However that didn't always extend to what you might call specials. Plus, despite bearings being the first to adopt metric sizing, Imperial sizes continue to be in demand even today. Then there are also combined inch/metric, so called adapter bearings, and other oddities. Then we had bearings coming in from the far east and other places around the world some of which adopted the existing numbering scheme and some of which didn't. So it depends mostly on the manufacturer and the bearing type. In many cases there will be consistency. In others there will not. BTW, generally the suffix denotes the seal type.
