Springs

I'm casting around for ideas. I've welded together a holder for a CPU fan and for a lawnmower engine filter. My plan is to hold the CPU fan and the air filter both in place using springs. I'm casting around for ideas on commonly available, inexpensive springs. At the moment my idea is clothes peg/pin springs since they're reasonably strong and available is just about any mom & pop store.

Has anybody any better suggestions?
