Ponderings on bathroom vent fan

So we just spent two weeks renovating our coach (I know, the conversion is only 4 years old) and pulled the shower out of our bedroom and actually combined it with our commode area. So, that small enclosed space builds up moisture during a shower. Sean shanks gave me a few fantastic roof vents but they are manual. (Nothing against his generosity, we love the guy). So, my 5 foot wife can't possibly reach to open and close them manually. That being said, I think we will probably purchase the 7350 model that has auto open and close from a remote which I can mount on the wall. Humidity sensing alone isn't an option since we want to evacuate smells too. We don't want to get one of those rain covers and leave the vent open all the time cause that's a climate control issue. To keep climate control, you almost need a vent that opens and closes to a seal when not in use. We winter in our coach so this feature is important. I wish they made a cold weather vent fan that actually had a thick insulated flap that used a servo to close when not in use and opened automatically when the fan was in use. To keep the cold and heat. Anyone use anything other than a fantastic fan for your bathroom shower area?

Scott I was just looking at fans last night. I used the Fantastic 3350 last time and while it works well I am going to use Maxx Delux in the bus this time..

10-speed fan motor + run fan while driving + use fan in the rain

The Fantastic Fan screens are a $%#@ to get off and on

Scott you buy what ever but the Maxx Air has a lot of board problems and motor problems and they only warranty the stuff for 2 years with Fantastic those people send me parts for 20 year old fans free but they are charging me freight now

You have 4 options from what I can see....
1. lower roof on coach
2. http://www.harborfreight.com/step-stool-working-platform-66911.html
3. platform shoes
4. Fantastic fans  They have been around forever and work great. I received free replacement covers from mine on the 4104, even though they were 15 years old. Go with the remote control version. Also see if they have an upgrade option to make the ones you have remote controlled.
My 4905 has the covers over the fans so I can use them in rain. Wouldn't go without them. What if you need to take a dump during pouring rain? Can't use the vent or it isn't effective just cracked open if it doesn't have the cover over it.
Just my thoughts.

Have 2 fantastic fans with moisture sensors and run one (bath area)  all the time since I've had coach in summer in bus barn for air circulation though coach. That thing has run for about 4 going on 5 years and still going. Granddaughter uses a small fold plastic step to access knob to turn it on when she's with us. Wouldn't have another brand as these are tough.

In our bus, there is a switch beside the light switch to turn the fan on and off. Could you fish some wiring up to the fan so you could have a switch beside the door?

JC, I think that opening and closing the vent was the issue as much as on/off.

If the manual fan was already installed, it might be possible to make an extended crank handle to open and close it.  But if this is going to be a new installation, the remote is the way.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

Ok I'm convinced. Auto fan with remote is the way to go. I've heard nothing but good about fantastic so I'm going that route. The upgrade kit for my fans is nearly as much as a new fan from what I was checking so I think I'll just buy new and call it a day. I'll find uses for the manual fans. Hey, I have two buses now so I can make use of these manual fans for sure

So, lowering the roof is off the list of solutions then? She'll like the remote option.

The older versions of the Fantastic Fan had the screen screwed with numerous screws. The newer versions are a press fit, which is very easy to remove and clean. With Fantastic Fans warranty on parts, I would never consider anything else besides a Fantastic Fan. They make a remote control version for your short wife. They also make stools (LOL). Good Luck, TomC
