AFCI - Arc Fault Current Interrupt - Good Idea or No?

Thanks all.  I was just curious to hear your opinions on the AFCI breakers and, equally importantly, the bases for your opinions. 

It sounds like the general consensus is against them due to cost, with a minority view in favor of them due to risk reduction.

As for me, I'll probably split the baby, using them on a few of the longer, less-protected wire runs.
