Would the MC9 owners measure and post the size of their radiators and blower squirrel cage diameter and pulley diameter please. Mine in my 5C is 20" X 25" X 6" thick. The squirrel cages are 10" inside and 12" outside diameter, and the pulley is 7 1/2" diameter. I am asking because I seem to remember the PO telling me that all that stuff came from a 9. It would be interesting to compare sizes between MC5s, 7s, 8s, and 9s.

Thanks all,

I may be wrong, but I believe there would be some modifications required to the body in order for that stuff to fit. MC9 radiators are larger than earlier MC5 and MC7 models, not sure about MC8 or later MC5 models though. Someone more knowledgeable will chime in.
Some are called, some are sent, some just got up and went.

So are the 5s and the 7s the same size? Kind of seems like they would be since they overlapped during production.
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

That's all speculation until you guys get measuring. If we had measurements, we could say for example: MC5 rads will fit 7s and 8s, but not 9s. How about rad blower assemblies?

Bump.

I really would like to know the size of the rads and squirrel cages and pulley on an MC9. I don't have an MC9 close by that I could go look at.

Please, from one busnut to another... Only takes 5 mn with a tape measure.

Thanks,

I just realized I have part of your answer!  I was able to bolt in the radiator louvers from a MCI 5 into my MCI 7.  Therefore, the radiators should be the same height.  I would guess they are the same.  I know the MCI 5 i got them from was the same vintage as the MCI 7.  I don't know if that made it a MCI5 A B or C.  I would make a guess that the next generation MCI 5 (A, B, or C) would line up with the MCI 8.  I know the pulley tension-er is different.

Do a search here on radiator swaps between MCI7 and 8 and 9.  May give some more clues!

Good luck

My mci 9 radiators are 8" thick x 30" high x 19 1/2" wide. Blower wheels are 9 1/2" on the inside. Pulley is 8 1/2" dia.

Thank you.

Bill, my cell number is 250-342-five three zero three.

Kenny, your 9 rads are thicker than mine (6"), about the same width, and higher by 5". The wheels look like the same, but my pulley is smaller at 7 1/2". Interesting. If MC9 rads are indeed 5" taller, fitting them into a 5 would be major work, if not impossible. Has anyone done it?

JC, I put 8 rads and 9 blowers in my 68 MCI. I'll measure tomorrow if you need it. Seems like I had to modify the bottom by 4 or 5 inches to get the rads in. Couldn't go up.
