Granite countertops!

Well, I am just about finished with the fabrication of my granite countertops. Only broke two or three pieces as I was "learning". Once you have the right tools and break enough practice pieces really granite is just like hardwood. My question is this to those who want to share their thoughts:

I have been told to use 100% silicon to adhere the granite to the 3/4 inch plywood substrate. I have no problem using lots of silicon but do you think it will hold in a moving/bouncing bus?  Should I add some additional (non-hardening) glue to keep it still?

With the weight of the granite and silicone it won't move lol I used strips you silicone direct to the 3/4 inch anything happens you will never remove it

I could unscrew mine watch what you use some adhesives will bleed through the granite

oops you broke 2 or 3 pieces I take it you are using tiles strips won't work sorry

We have Corian counter tops in the bus fastened down with just Silicone. They haven't moved. Silicone is a really good adhesive.

I used silicone on my granite bar and it works just fine. You will find it is very strong and flexible, which is important.

We have granite counterop installed by a local contractor who has done them in several conversions locally before ours. He used GE silicone (said it was the best you could get) and I can tell you, they are stuck big time to the cabinets. Hopefully they don't move in a wreck but only time will tell on that.

Down side===If you need to remove    Forget IT!!!!   will take a layer of base with it.   Had to use flooring chisel and it came up in small pieces with wood layer with it... Ge Silicon Caulk...
