Over a year ago I put myself forward as a volunteer for the 2012 Olympics in London, and have since gone through various interviews and security checks etc. Today I've been officially told what my role will be, which is organising coaches to transport athletes from the Olympic village to the various sporting venues.

It's a complete coincidence that my job has anything to do with buses.

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

Will you be using Leyland Olympians?   Maybe Mercedes Sprinter minibuses for the Field and Track events?

I will of course be trying to favour Plaxton products for personal reasons. The Supreme, Paragon and Elite models should all be ideal, but the Javelin will only be suitable for a small number of athletes, and the Cheetah hopefully for none at all. Perhaps I'll keep one of those in reserve in case anyone fails their drugs test.
