Do any of you guys know what the allowable end play is on the shaft where the 2 bolts and plate attach on the seal end of the fan drive this one has screws holding the seal in place with a 1/2 inch end play and the small plate is bent and cracked something is not right

I have the seal kit from Luke but I don't want to waste it and the manual I have does not tell you.

I was told 0.125 max is that right ?

good luck

Hey Clifford,

What engine are you working on? I looked this up in my "71" engine manual however it refers back to a belt driven unit. If it's the "Thermo Fan" they didn't give the info. They recommend contacting the fan MFG. Sorry.

Go looking for Bill Gerrie over on BNO?

He knows lots of good stuff, and knows the folks who know what he doesn't.

happy coaching!

I've only been as far as a seal replacement on one of those,, the seal should NOT be retained with screws, it is a press in seal.. I do remember no end play to any degree.>>>Dan

Dan it damaged the fan where the slots on the blade and those fans are a little pricey for a 40 year old bus lol

good luck and stay warm
