Wow what a long strange trip its been.

We just finished turning our XL over to the new owners. They found it on e-bay and I got an e-mail from them late Friday and spoke later that evening. Both him and I had never sold or bought anything on e-bay that was interesting. We decided without sufficient thought to have them come up from Effingham, so Ill. on Monday about lunch not realizing the auction ends at 1220 Monday. I mentioned during that call that Hickox was from very close to Effingham and the bus will be going home.

So they show up and I say not to pressure but I have a bid on the bus and if you decide to buy you will have 1 1/2 hr to do it and then you will need to be the winning bid.

So I say move your car and will get right out on the road and he says I dint need to drive it. I say really he says yup. I figure he is going to pass.

After the brief brief description we give them time alone (about 5min) and they are buyers. After the end of the auction about 1230 or so right as he handed me some cash he says....

I was a cabinate maker years back and I was sub-ed out by Mr Hickox to build out 6 of the 14 conversions he did. I did your bus. I went to Canada and drove it down an empty shell. I remember costs it was 250000 empty shell in 85. I cant believe we found it.

How cool is that. Couldn't a found a better buyer.

He says hes going to give the interior a facelift

We are delivering it after the holidays and couldnt be happier

Small world Joe.
I know you wanted to sell your bus but I'm a little sad about it, what a unique coach it is.
So whats next? Are you going to move into the trail trash category?

You know I am. Got some seed money.

;D

George you should a been here when he told me who he was.

I think he would have bought it if he had to tow it home.

Never did drive it. If I did not take the initiative to start it he would have never heard it run.
