The pictures are of the fitting from the power steering pump to the connections by the filter.  It has a serious leak from behind the nut.  Is there supposed to be a gasket or O-ring in the nut, or should I just try a bit of silicone?

Looks like the wrong fittings to me Lin should have a fitting with a nut, washer, and o-ring that tightens down on the pump body I have both the suction and pressure side but they are 90 angles that came from my 5 if they will work send me a address

good luck

Thanks Clifford,

This is from the pressure side hose, but the other end of it that connects to the filter.  I should take some more pictures, but it's raining right now (desert, right?).  The fitting itself seems to have a spring loaded disk in the middle.

This is a photo looking down the barrel of the same fitting.  Are the nicks around the inner ring part of the problem?

Ok Lin I got this figured out what you have is power assisted steering on your 5 your pump is different from mine the one I have the pressure valve is in the pump and yours is the fitting

good luck

I should have said it was power assist.  I did not think of the possibility that they used different fittings.  Anyway, the leak is at the rear end of the nut where the valve shaft comes out.

On my MCI 5C the line from the pressure out towards the pressure side filter has a quick disconnect fitting at the filter end, a leak proof fitting that you can disconnect and not lose fluid.  It has spring loaded inserts inside the fitting.  It's a Vickers pump, the pressure relief valve that sets the system pressure is in the pump.  Now, I have no idea what's inside the fittings...
