Bus conversion «work in progress», along I-55, California

Last week, I was in California (Villa Park). I took the freeway I-55 (for Newport beach) and I saw  3 or 4 bus conversion «work in progress» along this freeway but I didn't stop (that was my last day)

I saw, in this place, a double deck «in conversion»...

Anybody knows what is this?

(my secret: I'm falling in love with Newport beach and Balboa Island)

I'm curious.   I live in this exact area, and I've not seen them.   Where are they?   Were they at the Newport Beach / Costa Mesa end of the 55 freeway, or the inland end where it joins the 91, or in the middle part?   North or south side of the freeway?   It sounds like something I should check out!   I always like to see what other folk are doing, and get ideas from them.

First, I'm gone to Newport beach via Villa park by the freeway. The coaches were at my right. I remember that many indications for «work roads» were after the place. I think so after this place, there is a casino (?). A beautiful building spanish style (may be) in the same side on the road.

I will try to have more precision...

Sorry...

So, the coaches are very near the freeway...may be the building (casino?) were an hospital (Western medical center, Santa Ana?)

On Deodar street?
North Highland street?
Ritchey street?

I re-do the road on Google map....

I think I know where you're talking about.   It may be the old sugar factory that is now a hotel next to the freeway at Dyer Rd?   I'll check it out when I get a chance.

Yes, Newport Beach, including Balboa and Corona Del Mar, is nice, but somewhat spendy . . .   Recently I was only half-joking on the Crown Coach Junkies forum when I said my Crown now is rarer in Orange County than a Bugatti Veyron  -  I've seen two of them in Newport Beach alone, but there are no other Crowns like mine in all of OC.

I saw the same thing when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

I think it's Premier Coach. It's right off the 55.

Yes, it's Premier Coach.   I drove by there today while making my weekly pilgrimage to McFadden-Dale Hardware to get more odds and sods for The Mistress.   In addition to the usual generic S&S, there's an older Prevost and a handsome-looking older 2-axle Country Coach in front, and behind the gates a GMC and some weird hacked-up modification of a Neoplan which looks like someone ran out of ideas or money  -  the front of it seems unmolested, but there is a hideous boxy new aluminum top deck with what looked like a porch on the back!
