Went to the International Chili cookoff in Terlingua. Had a wonderful time, visited with many friends, won 3rd place in show. Leaving the CASI ranch, bus started heavy vibration, lots if heavy smoke. Got to safe place, checked obvious things, and decided I had broke crankshaft. Called Clifford and Sonny. verified my Diagnosis. Paul got me some phone numbers, as my computer would not work in that area.
I decided that it was not good finances to put new engine in or try to repair. Sold bus to local for one of his ranch hands to live in , Rented u-haul , stripped what I needed out and came back home.
If you're in Terlingua, look behind  the Ghost Town Hotel. Part of me is sitting there.

I wish to thank my bus nut friends for their assistance.

Now I have time to work on my 4107. Down, but not out.

Clifford, Kubota just don"t make and engine over 120 hp. Since I also work on MF tractors and they have a 300 hp ....but wait, Its a Detroit engine. So , I'm happy with the overall outcome.

John, stinks to hear about your troubles with the bus, but congrats on the 3rd place finish in the chili cookoff that's defiantly no small feat.

I feel for you John.  There are many of us who would be faced with the same dilemma if we lost an engine.

I feel for you, it must have been tough to have to part with your bus. I have had the fear of something like that happening to mine, I know it is just a matter of time. Congrats on the showing at the chili cookoff. I compete in about a dozen bbq competitions a year and have heard of Terlingua. Do you have any of last years recipes you care to share?
