Read plenty of posts on windshield leaks. Mine were so bad that after it rained, the drivers area of our coach would literally flood with 1/8" of water. The time and money spent on reseating the windshields with new rubber seals was out of our budget, so I went to the local windshield repair shop, and bought a couple of tubes of windshield sealant. It's really really good stuff and comes out of the gun nicely and even smooths nicely if you're patient (I wasn't). After cleaning the windshield and old rubber surface thoroughly, I taped off the windshield leaving exposed about an 1/8" strip of clean glass for the sealant to adhere to. Then I donned some latex gloves and went gongo with the sealant. The result? No leaks. Not a drop. Not even a microscopic amount of moisture leaks through the windshield. Cost? $12 per tube for a total of $24. If your windshield leaks, do this. Unless you have the time and money to replace the seals. Here are some photos:

Thank you for this post. We have some minor leaks, but the doom & gloom of some repair facilities and experts was getting me down.  Just goes to show you.  Simple is best.

When I sealed mine I did like you did the first time but they started to leak again, then the second time I cleaned every thing up again and used a butter knife and got it between the seal and glass then put the nozzel in and filled it up around the hole windshield and cleaned off all the excess sealer. If your seals are like mine there is a lot of cracks around them and it sealed up much better with the sealant behind the seal instaed of on top of it. Jason

Yes, I second the strategy of getting the fresh sealant under the existing gasket material. Run a putty knife, plastic knife, whatever, under the seal to lift it and follow along with the caulk of your choice.

Open and smother any surface cracks in aging stripping.

I like the tape idea, makes cleaning up so much easier!

Nice...I'll do that as soon as they start leaking again  :-\ That's a great concept...I did literally smother the entire old seal, cracks, etc with the sealant. I really did go gongo with it. But I like the idea of squirting the sealant under that old seal...next time...still have another tube left   :)
