Folks, lots of you have told Mike you would be coming to the rally.  However, a *VERY* significant number of you have not sent in your reservations!

This puts Mike in a terrible situation.  He has poured his heart and sole into this rally and now is approaching the deadline where he has to commit to various rally resources (catering, campground, etc) and to put it bluntly, his neck is out a mile.  Without reservations he can't properly plan for the rally.  He has some neat rally options in mind, but can't commit to any of these until he has a better handle on attendance.

If most of the folks who said they were coming actually attend, it will be a great rally.

Please take the time to send in your reservations (or at least call or email Mike and make a FIRM commitment).

Well, I see that Mike posted at the same time I did.

Now you have two folks bugging you :D :D :D

In Mike's note, he noted that you can pay for the rally via PayPal.  Doesn't get much simpler than that.  If you do the PayPal option, be sure to write a note in the payment as to who your are, so that there is no confusion.

PayPal ain't the same as a credit card.
Paypal has always taken my money & transferred it to the payee as requested for me. As for refunds, if the seller agreed, there were no problems.

The only problems I've had with getting funds returned for goods not provided (or not as described) arose from the seller's end - If they disputed it, PayPal didnot put fourth any effort to champion my cause.

I've had the same experience with bank transfers & money orders.

Bottom line is that Mike is a stand up guy that is trying very hard to do something nice for this hobby. Comming from someone who has hosted a few rallies, I can assure you that you'd make more money from picking up cans on the side of the road than you'll make from hosting a rally.
Priced catering or hired a band lately?

Wasn't trying to dis mike the  our the rally. I am merely trying to open your eyes as to what control Paypal has with YOUR money.
A seller can sell an item, any item to any buyer and all that buyer has to do is file a chargeback with his cc company and they (paypal) supposedly by law has to return the money and for whatever reason. Paypal does nothing for the seller, period! If you read, there are horror stories where Sellers have taken EVERY possible precaution to make a good transaction including a signature from buyer receiving good and then a month later have them to file a chargeback against you. At that point paypal says 100% of the time, its up to you to contact the buyer and to get your item/s returned.
If a buyer has gone that far to file a chargeback, which is far different then a dispute, he will most likely be hard to find.
Paypal WILL fight for both parties on a dispute, but NOT on a chargeback.

Yes Kyle, I do know what money is made on a rally as I'm close with the host of arcadia rally and have heard what the cost of bands and catering.
I also know what hard work is involved and loss of time.
Again not dissing Mike for his efforts and sorry if this was hijacked but a warning is just that, nothing else!

We use the delay payment with our PayPal tied to American Express card on questionable sellers we just use it on the ones that look shady if the sellers that don't agree we just pass on it, but most agree and ship in a hurry to get their money.
I don't like the American Express fees but they will get your money back in short order on bad sales without much hassle

good luck
