So I have a few minutes to spend bus-wise, and I go out to hook up the shift linkages and the clutch.  Clutch is easy - right there, new bolt, new nut and washers, all very happy.  I go up to the front to test the connection - like butter, light, easy, considering the air assist is off.  Second push - twang!  pedal is dead, no action, something is broken...  So I go look, and the linkage is broken, I need to make a new pull rod from the upper thing to the lower thing.  But I still have the memory of the first try when it worked - lighter that it's ever been and I have the rebuilt air assist yet to come..

The shifter works fine, happy days, those access panels are more advertising than fact as far as being able to work on the links is concerned...
