I was poking around SETRA USA's site and found that they updated it after several years. They have a new model now branded as a "standard" "entry level" known as the 407 in addition to their premium 417. But what made it stand out for me is that the sole engine is known as the 471. I would imagine that many would find that interesting in that the old 4-71 was a popular DETROIT DIESEL engine in some transit buses many deacades ago and some real diehard DETROIT fans may get a big smile in that perhaps they are bringing back that sweet sounding engine. Sorry, but that engine is the MERCEDES BENZ 12.8L and for whatever reason they call it the 471. Just thought it was funny they would use those numbers.

Being they own DD, they can do whatever they want I suppose.

Isn't Setra still owned by Diamler who also owns Mercedes?  It would make sense to use a Mercedes engine.  Some of the S417s had a huge Mercedes logo on the back.

Did a transit bus lose a bumper and somebody bolted it to the front of the S407?  Ugly.

What is the conversion from 12.7L to cubic inches? Could it be close to 471? ;D
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

ROFLMAO! Brian I thought the exact same thing! But reality is they are going after the East coast transit, & chinatown markets and if ya gonna run those areas youse had better have some beefy bumpers!

I think the whole bus is deplorable and told them if I wanted cheap line run junk I'd by a MCI D model instead of a supposed luxury brand retrofitted to look like one!

(needless to say they didn't bring us a demo to try out.)
