OK,  I pulled up the ramp leading into the living area of the bus.  There's an area (cavity) under the floor.  It's about 6".

Does anyone know if this space runs or continues through out the bus, under the floor?

and if so, has anyone ever removed the original floor and frame work and put a new floor down to gain the interior clearance?

On my 78 Mci 8 it only ran about 8ft and tapered out. Don't know about newer model.

If it runs all the way back, I'll do the extra work to gain the additional head room.  Space is King in a bus.  Headroom will not help me fit more things but it'll go a long towards the "feeling" of more space.  The additional headroom would be espacially nice in the shower.

no it does not run all the way back. it goes as far as the front bulkhead of the front bay.

If you want more headroom get an RTS  ;D

W have a 73' MC-8. We raised our roof 8", much easier than lowering the floor. And, lowering the floor will reduce the storage space in your bays.  Jack

Jack,

How involved is it to raise the roof?  Did you do yours or did you have it done?

I had considered a 102C3 but the cost was significantly higher than the 102A3.

I didn't realize the extra headroom was going to be so important to me.

Teresa,

I got the 102A3 for the storage.  I don't regret it, I just wish I had more headroom.  My MCI Classic had 6'-10" up front and 6'-7" in the back.

I have 6'-7" up front now and 6'-4" in the back.  So, I've lost about 3" of headroom.

Although, I really like the storage room and the straight walls.

I did not raise the roof on mine, and I am 6'2". I have no issues, don't have to walk hunched over and I don't hit my head on the a/c's either.
