I have had a bus of some sort in my driveway since I was 16 years old. I will be 64 in a couple months. I have driven  who knows how many over a million miles. I have picked up 2 new coaches back in the 70s at the old GM plant in Pontiac,MI. I have owned 11 of my own. 6 of them MCIs. I'm tired of buses....I hope my MCI F3500 will sell soon. I am trying to give it away at half price in this toilet economy. After nearly 50 years my driveway will be empty and I am going to explore the front porch..........Thought about sitting around and writing a book.

You think that now. But the day you sell the 3500 is the day you'll starting looking for another bus (because they're just too cheap to pass up today) LOL. Good luck with your sale, Will

I know the felling my family started in 1945 had 50 school busses and 20 coaches at one time grandfather got sick and grandmother sold the company but it was in the stock after a few years had to buy another one carefull what you wish for it might come true and you will miss it. Dad had 57 years with busses and talked about them to the day he died 2 months ago . Thank's Richard

My dad's first bus was a 1936 Chevy skoolie... remember going up crater lake road bouncing around in the back.. think we probably did all of 20 mph going uphill... and was scared to death when he drove down...

Unless you are too old to drive, i imagine that people without a bus will need a "fix"...

Just a thought ;D

Hi, I'm Dennis and I'm a busaholic.  It all started with big trucks.  I got out of them and changed careers.  Now I own a bus...and am looking at more.  I guess the old guy at the truckstop was right when he told me, "If you get that diesel in your blood you will never get rid of it."  Now I no longer fight it, I just accept it as part of who I am.  Plus I love the cool looks from people when you are driving/sitting somewhere.

Now I have to admit ... that is definitely a different slant on it all.  I liked that.

It is just like anything else in life ... It is what you make of it.

Bus building or restoring is dangerous. It is one of the attractions: when it ceases to be dangerous you don't want it.  My grandma used to say .... "Be ye not the first to try the latest .. nor the last to cast the old aside."

Get it the way you want it and then enjoy it.  It's only worth something to you, everyone else is gonna want it for free.

Charlie you might wish to end your relationship with buses, and I can understand why, but after all these years of service you do deserve a rest. But something tells me that the Boss isn't done with you yet. You know how when one door closes...another opens?

Whatever you future is..please don't forget those of us who've known you and your work for years and stop and talk with us from time to time.

For sure Bob.. I am not retiring, just making a few changes. I have over 50 years of traveling the road. I still don't think you can compare a bus conversion to any other motor home any where for durability and safety. A sticks and staples is a money loser in most cases. I will always have the busnut blood line. Been some great times with the grands between music dates for sure. The difference is most folks work a job and prepare their bus to retire and travel. Reverse for me. My bus has made a lot of stops at Great canyons and falls and everything in between. 400-500 for fuel in these high fuel prices is still a bargain for the occasional use but it's about every week for me . i am not going to work as hard as the last 40 years full time in the music business.......There may be another bus in my drive some day or maybe not.
