So, after a lot of discussion, we decided on 7k for the bus, which is less than we paid for the generator, lol.  Does that sound ok for a quick sale? It is a big loss, but we have to do this fast to avoid having two sitting here. I am going to put it on Criaig list, waiting for Ken to get home, so he will be here to show it. He should be home Wed night, then it is 2 months for working on the Dina.Whoohooo.  ;D

Abacus -

Since this is a 1974 model, you'll have to be VERY careful trying to import it into Canada.

It's my understanding that pre-'71 models aren't much of a problem, but post-'71s are.

You may get by with it since the 4905 was sold new up there by the Diesel Division of GMC.

The stickler may be the conversion - it's no longer "as built" from the factory.

Gotta do your homework on this one!

Here is the RIV website and the appropriate clause.  You can import newer buses if they are unmodified from new and if you then modify them to meet the Canadian regulations.  My bus was imported by an import specialist.  The modifications appear to consist of a new speedometer reading in KMH, a hub meter that reads in kilometers, and a sticker listing the axle and GVWR in kilograms.

Vehicles that are  up-fitted by a manufacturer are allowed, like Prevost shells that are finished by a second manufacturer.  Other modifications, like a wheelchair lift van, a raised roof van or a lifted pickup truck, are not allowed.

13. IMPORTATION OF VEHICLES (15) YEARS OLD OR OLDER AND BUSES MANUFACTURED BEFORE JANUARY 1, 1971 - Vehicles fifteen (15) years old or older, as determined by the month and year of manufacture, and buses manufactured before January 1, 1971, are no longer regulated under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act by virtue of their age. While Transport Canada does not regulate the importation of these vehicles, it does not preclude the vehicles from having to meet provincial/territorial safety and licensing requirements. Importers of such vehicles are required to complete a Vehicle Import Form 1, at the time of importation, and present proof of ownership. Also, please contact the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for clearance requirements.
