Good Source for Roof Top A/C Units????

In short without going into detail, the solar unit in question is a great idea if it was mfg'd in a 24 volt input voltage model to serve the RV industy. The 48 volt was specifically mfg'd for the telco market and with space beinging a premium in lugage bays I certainly do not want to add a third bank of batteries with the expense to seal the system per NEC regs.

This unit is not made for telecommunications -- it is a residential unit made for off-grid living.

While you are correct that 48vdc is the standard voltage for telecommunications plant, it is also a very common voltage for alternative energy (AE) applications, and you will find many off-grid and grid-tie inverter-chargers operate on this voltage.

If you can wait  www.pplmotorhomes.com  have a sale every year on AC units the 1st week of Oct. check their site everyday as some of the sales will be for only 3 days for example I bought 3 Carriers complete with inside covers and shipping for 287 bucks each,only thing  I thought was wrong was I paid for the 3 from AZ had them shipped to Texas and they hit me with a 8% sales tax for Texas,yea I know Carrier is out of RV ac business but at that price and with the Carrier warranty I took a chance I still believe Carrier had the best roof top of the 3 manufactures

Actually I wasn't asking again but glad you thought I was because you brought up some good points and ideas that I hadn't even thought of.. I was merely trying to clarify my original question to those who hadn't chimed in yet since it was being perceived by some that I only wanted dirt cheap units and wasn't interested in anything else. Of course I like a good deal just as much as the next guy but I do expect to pay a fair market price for a decent unit.
