MCI MC-5A Rear axle Cracked

I thought I heard somewhere that the rear axle housing in the earlier MC-5s were prone to cracking and therefore; leaking. Supposedly many were beefed up later with gussets? I also heard that its no big deal other than oil leaks from the top of the pumpkin. Mine appears to have been repaired at some point.
