I remember seeing a product I think was called rhino Hinge for gm 4106s?  Can someone tell me where to buy.  I found International bus has oem if they still are in business.

Thanks

Lin

There are three options I know of, but I will have to try to find the sources.  They are probably in the Archives here though.  First, there is just replacing the original hinge with OEM.  Luke is likely to have that as well as Mohawk.  Second, there is a guy the makes a similar rubber hinge that is reenforced with something like nylon.  Is that called the Bison Tough Hinge?   And third, there is Ed Gallant who makes stainless steel hinges.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

bebackbus,

I have used all three products.

On my 4905 I ended up using Ed Gallants stainless hinges on the top hinge and the OEM on the cantilever center hinge.

The top hinge is the one taking all the stress and the center hinge is easy to change.

You can close the door without the center hinge, but you need the top to hold it closed.  This can create some interesting temp fixes when on the road.

I also found when using the OEM that the top would fail considerably quicker than the center due to all the stress on it.

The combination of the two has served me well.

How long do the oem hinges last? Do they have to be replaced often is it a once every 10 years thing?

I replaced a few of the top OEM hinges after only a couple of years, that why I switched to the stainless.

Also, you may get new OEM or NOS OEM, you just don't know for sure.

This is a real pain on the road if you don't have the right tools.  I made sure I had all the tools I needed on board after the first failure and then replaced the rest.

If you see a crack or slight tear, plan on doing them ASAP to avoid a problem.

Thanks   What I have lost is the phone numbers for the sources.  Not a good thing when you're driving old equipment.
