March to the South

I'm about to start another leg of my ever fearless (ha!) journey south. Probably leaving tomorrow, but maybe Wednesday - dependng when I finish this fridge installation (It's raining now, so roof vents wil have to wait awhile... at least 'til I move the bus.  Which has to wait 'til I repack the bays. Which... well, you all know what I mean  ).

Anyway, I'm going from Jack's (in Arcadia) to just south of Miami...  a place called Homestead. And am looking for places / people I could contact in the event of any problems. I (kinda) don't expect any, as it's a short trip (Jack says about five hours). But still...

Any tips much appreciated... always nice to have some alternative LZs.

There is a nice race track there.  A bunch of nice young men with very shiny cars will be there in early March...  A buddy of mine manages one of the Grand-Am Prototype teams.

No kidding?! I love races! Never saw one (except NASCAR on TV) until two years ago. While in St. Pete, I watched a week of their Grand Prix from a condo balcony (directly over the track). At 6:00 A.M, the engines would start and literally rattle me out of bed. Most mornings I'd go down to the track - great hairpin turn a couple steps from the condo - and watch these cars hurtling right AT me, then snap into the turn at a million miles per hour.

What a rush! Got to meet some cool people too. Regular folks. Kinda like Bus Nuts, only faster. And younger and (just occasionally) somewhat cuter  . But you know what? We all had the same grease on our hands and the same zest for life and machines.

Fill me in, pal... get me a pit pass?
