jacking my bus

I have an MCI5a and would like impute on the best way to jack up the body.If I jack at the lift points,how do I block it. I believe I have read that putting a beam across the to jack points is best. Is this correct or is there a better way?  thanks, mike

What does the manual say to use for jacking points?

If that is unavailable to you, I'd look for bulkheads & where the suspension attaches to the body.

I know where the jacking points are. My concern is after I jack it up,I would like to block it also,but of course ,the jack is in the way. thanks

I was intrigued by the subject of your post... but wondered why it wasn't in the "Off Topic" section

Seriously, though, I'm forever blocking my MC-5C, so they outta be the same?

First off, which end do you need blocked? If it's the back and the jack's in the way (usually is, it seems) I use the double frame (engine cradle) for 'safety blocks' and then crawl under and get a solid support on the suspension beam (lower part of the air beam).

The front is easier, 'cause you don't have to slither under the bus. But same procedure.

I'm sure there are other (and maybe better) ways, but this has worked okay for me.

Another thing: Use enough blocks to get a nice wide 'footprint' - you don't want all that weight on too small a support.

Main thing: Be Safe! I use a steel plate as my 'top layer' just in case I've got some weak wood.

Mike, If you want the body held up I use 3x3x3Lx1/4Thick sq tubing. Placed at the rubber stops for the body. The rubber flatens some but the tubing has held for me. Slide in when the air bags are up, you should have 1/2 inch to spare.  Be SAFE.  Tom Y
