I didn't want to rob the other post. I have owned my My MC-9 for two years and has sat in the driveway while conversion is ongoing. The PO had 15-40 oil installed and I have since replaced with Delo 100 30w My question is that I see some leaking of oil at the exhaust flange. I have not had on the road and heated up since bringing home just at fast Idle in the driveway. Should I worry?

My thoughts are the same but was hoping you would reply as you know your Stuff or S@#$. I am real close to getting it on the road with 1/2 conversion but wanted to not take any chances.

If you're in Wells, NV as your profile says, I would recommend you change that 30-weight out for 40-weight.  Just my $0.02.

Sean, I think the guy is allright with the 30w it gets cold there I spent the night at Fly J one time and it was 16 below 0 not uncommon to 15 this time of year and it is not even winter.
40 w would be best for if you access to a block heater all the time just don't drive to Ely in Dec and shut it off for 3 or 4 hrs with no way to heat it with 40w the hookers will be beating down your door, don't ask I how know that bit of info

good luck

I think what Chevron needs to come up with is Delo 100 30/40

30w for me for now 40w when I am set up better. Next time here look me up not far from Flying J and could give some power away! Wife knows some of the hookers don't ask me how LOL.

If you're not or can't drive it, why not put it to bed and not run it at all until it's time to get ready to boogie?  Seems unnecessary to worry about if you have 30W or 40W oil if you're not driving it.  Mine apparently leaks around the exhaust flanges, it's just seepage from the valve cover gasket.  I'll change it eventually.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!

You're thinking southern Nevada, like down near LV.

Wells is in NORTHEASTERN Nevada, at high elevation.  It is routinely cut off from the west (and the county seat!) by winter road closures.  Think of it like Utah without the ski resorts.  Then in summertime, it gets above 100 for a while.

He needs to run 30 in the winter and 40 in summer (in other words, if there's winterized fuel at the truck stop, there should be winter oil in the crankcase).

BTW, Wells is a nice little town, the only one I know with TWO Flying J truck stops (and they are across the highway from each other) -- and more than once I've seen different fuel prices on their signs!  If you have need of groceries, their supermarket is well worth a visit.
