Another 20,000 mile engine :D

Yeah I hear yah Len, I hear they are preprogaming all rebuilds to have 20,000 miles on them so they'll match all advertizing. LOL
If he doesn't have documentation on the rebuild then it aint rebuilt.

It appears the emergency is still unblocked and operable, this is a big plus for any bus. Most of them have been covered - really dumb.

You need to know how long it has been sitting, this makes a huge difference in condition.

The extra front axle is probably power boost steering, not real full time steering. If it shows a big hyd cylinder on the axle it is the original power boost. Not bad but not like real PS.

What you really need to know is if it has power (boost) steering installed. If not then you have to run the lines from the engine to the front axle plus install a PS pump on the engine. Not an easy job.

Power boost is nice for parking and slow maneuvering but no help going straight down the highway.

For the sake of not getting into that old discussion again, let's just say the engine is NOT rebuilt, just runs good.

He said he drove it to where it is a few weeks ago and was able to drive it even with the air leak, so it has not been sitting completely unused for any real time, he indicated a year or so since it's been on any real trips.

He said the steering is just standard right now which is why he got the extra parts.  Don't know that I would ever fool with changing it to power assist.  I drove a 4104 a few weeks ago with manual steering and it didn't seem that bad to me... I'm still young (38)  ;D ;D ;D

If it's a standard steering (NO) power steering.
Then it's not a ex Greyhound PD4104.

Someone told me that if the driver side mirror is up high like on this one, that it started out as a Trailways bus.  Ever heard that?

I understand, I would buy it if I wasn't  ;D ;D Maybe I could trade it out for something. Not sure what?? Maybe a kid, I have a couple extra  :D :D :D
Its been so well taken care of and always stored inside. It's a shame the state bought out part of there property which includes the barn they kept it in. They have a newer shop building but only 10ft. door  :-\ They did not think they would ever need another spot for it. Now that the husband has passed and she is somewhere pushing 80 years old not much use for it. But you can sure tell she has alot of connection and history with the 4104 and hates the thought of it sitting outside over the winter. They have owned it since about 1970.

Anyway, I will keep a look out and let you know if I run across anything else.
